CARMEN.maquia Performed by Ballet Hispánico

Ballet Hispánico, recognized as one of America’s Cultural Treasures, presents CARMEN.maquia—a bold, contemporary reimagining of Bizet’s classic opera by acclaimed choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano. Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Carmen, this electrifying work—praised as a “masterpiece” by the Chicago Sun-Times—features inventive partnering and striking visual storytelling inspired by Picasso and Spanish bullfighting. Under Artistic Director & CEO Eduardo Vilaro, Ballet Hispánico continues to honor its roots while pushing the boundaries of Latine dance on the world stage. Photo by Paula Lobo.
