A trip to the farmers market is one of life’s tastiest pleasures. Stroll through stalls stocked with juicy tomatoes, crisp apples, and flaky pastries, learn from farmers how to best prepare the ingredients they grew, and bump into friends and neighbors as you support local businesses at the many farmers markets in Nassau County, Long Island.  

Below are some of the most popular farmers markets in Nassau County, Long Island. Each one has its own charm—so why not visit them all?

  1. Glen Cove Deep Roots Farmers Market

Shoppers can browse tents of locally grown fruits and vegetables—and just about everything else at this bustling farmers market held in Garvies Point Park. In addition to the locally grown goodness, vendors offer freshly baked loaves of bread, artisanal cheeses, homemade jams and so much more (like gourmet treats for your four-legged friends.) Looking for a gift? Shoppers can also pick up handcrafted pottery, jewelry, and beauty products at the market.

Open: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, June through October

Location: Garvies Point Park at 100 Garvies Point Rd., Glen Cove

  1. Great Neck Deep Roots Farmers Market

This charming cousin of the Glen Cove market debuted in 2022. In the warmer months, visitors can pick up in-season produce along with cheese, pickles, baked goods, and tasty elixirs. Local artists sell soaps, housewares, and other eclectic goods making it nearly impossible to leave this market empty-handed. Don’t worry about the cold weather. In November and December, the market moves indoors. 

Outdoors Market Open: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, June through October

Location: Firefighters Park at 30 Grace Ave., Great Neck

Indoors Market Open: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays in November and December

Location: Great Neck House, 14 Arrandale Ave., Great Neck 

  1. Long Beach Farmers Market

Stop by the Long Beach Farmers Market on your way to the beach. One of the larger farmers markets in Nassau County, shoppers can browse dozens of vendors offering fresh produce, locally raised meat, just caught seafood, and an array of irresistible baked goods (try the seasonal peanut butter banana bacon cookies from Pop Culture Cookie when available). Other favorites include homemade Greek yogurt, pastas and raviolis, and vegan desserts. 

Open: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays, May through November

Location: Kennedy Plaza, 1 West Chester St., Long Beach

  1. The Oyster Bay Market

No Sunday stroll through Oyster Bay is complete without a stop at the Oyster Bay Market. Every fall, the market offers locally grown fruits and vegetables, crafts, artisanal sandwiches and empanadas, and the town’s namesake fresh oysters.

Open: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, September through mid-November

  1. Port Washington Farmers Market

The long-running farmers market is a community favorite, where visitors can get expert gardening tips (like how to grow melons from seed.) Founded by the local non-profit group Grassroots Environmental Education, this is a completely organic market. That means you can feel good about picking up produce, baked goods, coffee and tea, cheese, honey, eggs, seafood, dairy, and flowers.

Open: 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, June through October
Location: Port Washington Town Dock, 347 Main St., Port Washington

  1. Rockville Center Farmers Market

There are more than two dozen vendors you’ll want to visit at this Long Island Growers Market. Beyond the produce, shoppers will find a variety of smoked meats, seafood, and pork products as well as gourmet cheeses, pastas, pastries, pickles, and lots of other delicious delicacies. Whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the banana bread.

Open: 7 a.m. to noon on Sundays, June through December

Location: Sunrise Highway and Long Beach Rd., Rockville Centre

  1. Roslyn Farmers Market
    This charming, Gold Coast market offers fresh food and crafts within the 98-acre Christopher Morley Park. Run by the Long Island Growers Market, shoppers can browse an impressive assortment of produce, baked goods, seafood, ice cream, yogurt, and stunning bouquets of flowers. We dare you to leave without taking home a crispy, ricotta-filled cannoli. 

Open: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, end of May through mid-December

Location: Christopher Morley Park, 500 Searingtown Rd., Roslyn

  1. Seaford Farmers Market

At this Long Island Growers Market, located on the eastern side of the Seaford train station parking lot, you can shop for all the usual goodies. You can also try hearty breads stuffed with meat, cheese, and vegetables, enjoy homemade fudge and ice cream, and take home some freshly brewed beer to wash it all down.

Open: 7 a.m. to noon, June through mid-November

Location: Seaford Railroad Station parking lot at the corner of Washington Ave. and Sunrise Highway, Seaford
