1. AG Steakhouse, Westbury
Churrasco is the name of the game at this Brazilian steakhouse where skewers of grilled meat are served in a dining room that exudes old-meets-new charm.
Those who would prefer a more robust offering can choose the AG Rodizio. The rotation includes choice cuts of beef, such as sirloin, ribeye, and filet mignon, brought to the table along with lamb chops, chicken legs, pork ribs, and other carnivorous delights.
Vegetarians can also chow down on a steak—that is, a balsamic-glazed cauliflower steak served with a chickpea salad.
Try this: The abacaxi, a caramelized pineapple, is a must.
2. Bryant & Cooper Steakhouse, Roslyn
The menu at this Roslyn restaurant hasn’t changed much in the nearly 40 years since it opened its doors. That’s a good thing, though. Menu standouts include the porterhouse, sirloin, and filet mignon.
Diners who aren’t craving red meat, can dig into classic dishes like chicken parmigiana and linguine and clam sauce or peruse the many seafood options, including the popular shellfish towers.
Try this: Don’t miss out on the stone crab claws when they’re in season.
3. Churrasqueira Bairrada, Mineola
Come hungry to this contemporary Portuguese steakhouse. Churrasqueira Bairrada’s specialty is the rodizio, better known as the all-you-can eat grilled meats. Patrons can also choose from various seafood options, such as the grilled swordfish, garlic shrimp, and tilapia.
The restaurant was closed due to a fire in 2019, but reopened in a redesigned space less than a year later.
Try this: On weekends, the restaurant offers a suckling pig.
4. DOMA Land + Sea, Cedarhurst
DOMA Land + Sea made national headlines in 2018 when it added a $1,000 pastrami sandwich to its menu for the Super Bowl. The KingDOMA sandwich, which included prime beef short ribs brined in Glenlivet single malt Scotch, foie gras, truffles, Champagne-infused mustard, and a gold leaf, is no longer on the menu. However, there are plenty of other meat, seafood, and vegetarian options.
The restaurant, which features an open kitchen, is kosher. This means that the dry-aged meat is finished with melted beef fat instead of butter.
Try this: If you’re craving something a little bit different, try the barbacoa beef tacos with 24-hour braised BBQ brisket—and a French fry.
5. Opus Steakhouse, Jericho
Those celebrating a big birthday, a graduation, or an anniversary, may want to consider this opulent steakhouse.
Discerning carnivores can find Wagyu steaks from Australia and Japan on the menu. The high-end restaurant’s wine list is equally impressive, featuring more than 600 bottles. All of this can be enjoyed by the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling marble fireplace or quartz bar.
Try this: You won’t go wrong with a beautifully marbled Wagyu Picanha.
6. Peter Luger Steak House, Great Neck
No list of Nassau steakhouses would be complete without this fan favorite. This decades-old chophouse built its reputation on the sizzling porterhouse. And you don’t have to travel to Peter Luger’s Brooklyn location to enjoy these prime slabs of meat with sides of German potatoes and creamed spinach.
Don’t forget to hit the ATM before dinner. Peter Luger’s does not accept credit cards.
Try this: The porterhouse. Enough said.
7. Rare650 Prime Steak & Sushi, Syosset
This steakhouse and seafood restaurant is known for its prime dry-aged steaks, lengthy sushi menu, and chic vibes. It also boasts a wine list featuring about 850 different bottles from around the world.
Guests seeking ambiance can enjoy generous T-bones and lobster cocktails as they dine under the stars in the restaurant’s glass conservatory.

8. Rothmann’s Steakhouse, East Norwich
If you’re looking for a steakhouse imbued with history, Rothmann’s is it. The restaurant opened in 1907. While it has gone through several iterations since, Rothmann’s still counts luminaries like President Theodore Roosevelt, Elizabeth Taylor, and Jacqueline Kennedy as former patrons.
Modern-day diners looking to splurge should check out the Wagyu porterhouse. The restaurant also has a raw bar, with little neck clams, oysters, and other seafood.
