A Girls’ Trip to Oyster Bay NY

Chanel Rivers and Tori Piscatelli are the duo behind “Glad We Talked” – a podcast where two friends chat about a range of relatable topics, covering everything from navigating careers and relationships, to wellness trends, pop culture, travel and more. Chanel and Tori took a break from recording their podcast and embarked on a girls’ day-trip together! Check out our fun day in Nassau County!

This summer, if you’re looking for a quick-and-easy girls’ day-trip outside of New York City, look no further than Nassau County, Long Island.

To make things easy for your upcoming trip, we’ve put together an Oyster Bay NY itinerary for you and the girls. All you have to do is hop on the Long Island Railroad from New York Penn Station to Oyster Bay Station. In about an hour you’ll be sipping craft cocktails and making memories

Morning Coffee and More

First stop! We recommend starting your visit at Southdown Coffee. There are multiple locations across Nassau County, and for good reason! Southdown Coffee has been mentioned as one of the Best Coffee Shops in America by Food & Wine. They are a coffee roaster that serves high-quality, single-origin coffee that’s ethically sourced, and their service and food are  also top-notch.

Whether a coffee enthusiast, tea drinker, or foodie, you can enjoy all the sips and snacks at Southdown. The food menu is a perfect balance of pastries, healthy morning meals, salads, and tasty lunch sandwiches. A cult favorite is the Avocado Toast. It’s a perfectly toasted slice of sourdough bread, with avocado, topped with roasted roma tomatoes, and dressed with alfalfa sprouts, sunflower seeds and a squeeze of lime juice. It’s a chef’s kiss, if we do say so ourselves!

Hidden Gems

After your morning coffee, we suggest a stroll through downtown Oyster Bay.  Make sure to visit these two unique shops —Chrison & Bellina and Theodore’s Books

Chrison & Bellina is a women’s lifestyle boutique on Audrey Avenue  The store is curated with a collection of on-trend styles of jewelry, bags, accessories, andclothing at fair prices. As you walk through the store, stop in their home decor alcove where you’ll find mint vintage plates, glasses, and serving pieces alongside more modern pieces. If you’re looking for a housewarming gift or something for newlyweds, you can score some unique finds in this section. The back of the store also has toys and treasures for kids!

Theodore’s Books is a small, independent bookstore named after Theodore Roosevelt, a favorite son of Oyster Bay NY whose home, Sagamore Hill, was affectionately known as “The Summer White House.”

The store invites you in to wander, exploring new releases, staff picks, signed books, Long Island reads, and its extensive kids’ section. For the avid reader, you might enjoy taking a chance on a “mystery book.” The staff wraps up a variety of books in craft paper and you choose your purchase based solely on the genre!

Brunch

After shopping and exploring this town steeped in history, you’ve probably worked up an appetite. Brunch at 2 Spring is the ideal remedy for that. 2 Spring.is a modern American restaurant where timeless favorites are reinvented with modern twists.

The restaurant’s menu and ambiance draw inspiration directly from New York City, and trust us, you’re going to want to sit and stay a while. The staff go above and beyond to provide hospitality, an exemplary customer experience, and to make you feel at home.

Chef Jesse Schenker keeps things fresh and exciting by rotating the menu frequently and seasonally, so no matter how many times you come back, you’ll always find something new! We recommend their delicious three course Prix Fixe menu. To start, you’ll want to order from  the  Light and Raw section. From oysters and cured fish to foie gras and crisp seasonal vegetable dishes, these lighter options are perfectly sized for tasting and sharing.

As for appetizers, two stand-out items are the RoastedMushrooms and Fried Chicken. The Roasted Mushrooms are hen of the woods, pickled hon-shimeji, hazelnut, and parmesan served and presented in a surprising way— you’ll have to order it to see! The Fried Chicken has been on the menu since the restaurant’s doors opened, so you know it’s good! There are a variety of entree options to choose from,  including salmon, breakfast sandwiches with a twist, a burger and even a New York Strip Steak.  There is something for everyone and portion sizes are generous, so you can share with your friends, too.

Make sure to save room for an espresso and dessert. The tiramisu is spoon-scraping good and the portion is large enough to share a spoonful with the entire table. But, we also won’t judge if you enjoy the entire bowl for yourself! If you’re looking for a more light and refreshing treat, the seasonal sorbet trio is for you. There are three different flavors, each guaranteed to refresh your palate  after this delectable meal!

If you’re in the mood to keep girls’ day going, look no further than Wine Line. Just down the street from 2 Spring and our favorite shops, Wine Line has a mindfully curated wine list and also serves fun cocktails! If you have any room left for bites, order off their shareable menu, or just  enjoy the cozy atmosphere and conversation with friends.

Before you know it, you’ve spent the perfect day full of activities in Oyster Bay NY!
